A movie about wind and change. On the Western Isles off shore of Scotland’s Northwestern coast. 5.000 people live on North and South Uist, Benbecula and Barra. Isolation, depopulation, idyll, home. The islands are not – and have never been – a place where time stood still. People, who arrive, leave, or have always been there, show us what it means to live on a remote island. They are well aware of the world with its thousands of prospects, but outside their front door just exists the vastness of the Atlantic Sea. A splendid view with only little perspective. For some it’s a paradise, others turn their back on the islands. Still others simply don’t know anything else. Stories about rural life, that so many dream of, though it seems to be all but a dream.
